Huawei has launched another new handset dubbed as the Huawei Honor 3C Play

Huawei has launched another new handset dubbed as the Huawei Honor 3C Play. The device is a budget-friendly version of the Huawei Honor 3C, and comes with a little downgraded specifications compared to its bigger sibling.

The budget-friendly Huawei Honor 3C Play rocks a 5-inch display sporting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 chipset with a quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex processor with a Mali400-MP2 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Most of the specifications of the Huawei Honor 3C Play is similar to its big brother with the major difference being the RAM — it features 1GB of RAM compared to 2GB in the Huawei Honor 3C.

On the storage side, there’s a 16GB storage on board with microSD card slot. Other features include 8MP camera for photos and videos, a 2MP front-facing camera, 2,000 mAh battery, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, GPS, AGPS, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-SIM support and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Emotions UI as its operating system.

The handset will hit retail in China soon with a 599 yuan. An international retailer listed the device for €130, but it’s currently listed as out of stock. There’s no word if the device will hit retail internationally. We’ll update you as soon as it hits retail.

Motorola’s 2014 line-up of smartphones is expected to grow bigger in the coming weeks as the company is rumoured to launch a new Droid Turbo phone on US telecom operator Verizon Wireless and a new phablet Moto S globally.

As per the online reports, the highlight of the Droid Turbo will be its long battery life and faster charging capabilities. Other details are still sketchy but the phone is said to be sporting a 5.2-inch display, dual-LED flash, and front speakers.

Now, the first images of the phone have appeared online. Shared by HelloMotoHK, these images show that Motorola will include a pattern similar to previous generation Droid-series smartphones on the back but the overall design will be quite different. You can check out more of the leaked images at the end of the report.

Coming to the Moto S, an image showing the back panel of Moto S smartphone along with Moto G and Moto X back covers has also been published by HelloMotoHK. The leaked images suggest that Moto S will be a phablet version of the new Moto X and will pack similar design. The specifications are unclear but some reports indicate that the phone will include a 5.9-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM.

Cameras

The front 5 megapixel camera with BSI and a fast f/2.8 lens is better than most selfie cameras on the market. Again, it's identical to the M8's camera and it's a pleasure for video chat with less noise and richer colors.

The rear traditional 13MP camera with BSI, HDR and panorama mode is a selling point in my book. I'm not a great fan of HTC's duo camera and its 4MP equivalent resolution. Yes, it does well in low light settings thanks to the larger sensor sites, but the resolution is too low for anything but small format presentations and cropping results in noisy or watercolor-ish photos. The 13Mp rear camera still has some typical HTC flaws such as blown out highlights in bright sunlight, but overall it captured good detail, rendered pleasing colors and was quick to focus. It's not the best camera on the market; the LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5 and higher end Nokia Lumia models like the Lumia 930/Lumia Icon and Lumia 1020 do a better job, but the One E8's camera is pretty good. It can record 1080p (but not 4k) video and has a white LED flash rather than the two-tone flash on the M8.

Google’s Chromecast jumpstarted a whole movement in the HDMI wireless streaming market. We have seen small competitors come to the market, but now we have one of the big guys making an entrance. Microsoft has just announced its Wireless Display Adapter.

This dongle looks much like the Chromecast, but works a bit differently. In essence, it is a streaming device that mirrors any device that supports Miracast. Another big difference is the $59.99 price, which is still affordable, but significantly pricier than Google’s dongle.

Those interested can now pre-order the device straight from Microsoft’s website. If you prefer waiting, it will be generally available come October.

Opinion: I have always said that a mirrored computer works just as well as other types of streaming. After all, there is no content unavailable from your computer. There is a small downside to mirroring, though – you can’t multi-task.

With Chromecast you can simply send your videos to stream and keep doing other things with your phone. Not to mention, Chromecast does support Android mirroring and only costs $35.
