Lenovo has announced three new additions to its Yoga family of products
Lenovo has announced three new additions to its Yoga family of products – the Yoga 3 Pro, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro and the Yoga Tablet 2.
All three devices are designed to be used in multiple modes. For example, the Yoga 3 Pro lets you turn your laptop into a tablet, and the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro can also be used as a projector.
The 13-inch Yoga Tablet 2 Pro (above) is built for entertainment. It has a built-in projector, which lets users project a 16:9 high resolution image onto any surface. It also features an 8 watt sound system and its very own subwoofer, to help recreate the cinema experience.
Other features include an 8 megapixel rear camera and 15 hours of battery life. The traditional Yoga kickstand means that the tablet can either stand upright for watching videos or video-chat, or lie down in ‘tilt mode’ for typing or gaming. The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro costs £449 for the 32GB version with WiFi.
The Yoga 3 Pro (below) is an ultra-slim 13-inch convertible PC. It features a 'watchband' hinge that allows the device to be thinner than a pencil when opened and 14 per cent lighter than before.

ZTE launches innovative payment solutions
14 October 2014, Dubai, UAE - ZTE Corporation ("ZTE") (H share stock code: 0763. HK/A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, has launched a range of innovative payment solutions including phone POS (point of sale), photonic and DTV (Digital TV) payment products at the GITEX exhibition in Dubai.
With an NFC (near field communication) capable smartphone, users can install the phone POS app to enable the smartphone function as a POS payment device. Businesses and individuals can then more easily manage a vast range of transactions including transferring money, checking account balances, paying off credit cards, topping up mobile phones and paying bills.
ZTE's photonic payment solution can be downloaded as an app which is then linked to the user's bank account. Shoppers can complete payments with the click of a button as the app uses the smartphone's flash light to communicate with the seller's photonic receiving device to complete the payment in a way that is more secure than, for example, contactless card transactions.
The integration of the smartphone, PC and television into one solution provides a faster and more convenient trading platform for both consumers and businesses. With ZTE's innovative payment technologies, smartphones can now function as POS payment devices and telecom operators and service providers can establish more partnerships with radio and television operators, and with online businesses.
This will accelerate the development of the payment services industry, and create new models for the e-commerce and DTV sectors, eventually changing the way people make most of their transactions.
Mr Shi Lirong, President of ZTE, said: "In the future, ZTE is aiming to lead the way in the payment industry by adapting to suit the needs of its customers. Our aim is to always pursue technologies that reduce environmental impact and provide top-quality user experiences."
The Chinese Central Bank recently issued third-party licenses to ZTE for Internet payment, mobile payment and Digital TV payment solutions. ZTE is the only enterprise that has been granted these three licenses simultaneously in China.
Visitors to the ZTE booth at GITEX will be able to test the company's payment solutions in a variety of scenarios, from personal shopping to enterprise-usage, and experience these innovative, efficient and convenient payment systems.
ZTE aims to continue its open and cooperative approach to the development of new technologies and solutions, and to attract more partners from across the full range of industries. Photonic payment is an example of successful cooperation with a partner from a separate industry, as the ZTE solution was developed in partnership with photonic payment solutions market leader Kuang-Chi Innovative Technology Ltd.
The new ZTE payment technologies have been planned, incubated and developed in ZTE's CGO (Cool, Green, and Open) R&D laboratory which focusses on innovative mobile technologies that can change the way people live.

ZTE UBR Leading RRU Technological Revolution

In 2006, ZTE proposed the first BBU+RRU distributed base station architecture and applied it to the TD-SCDMA network of China Mobile Qingdao. At the time, it was a revolution in wireless base station architecture. Now, the BBU+RRU distributed base station has become mainstream. It has the following advantages:
- A series of RRUs enables indoor and outdoor coverage in different scenarios. - RRUs are small and light and can be installed flexibly. This speeds up network deployment. - RRUs can be installed close to the antenna site. This reduces feeder loss and increases site coverage. - The BBU has a subrack structure that leaves no footprint. - Baseband can be shared for flexible traffic scheduling. With these advantages, BBU and RRU are playing an increasingly important role in 2G, 3G and 4G network deployment. A state-of-the-art RRU is an important factor when an operator chooses an equipment supplier. According to a report published by the GSA in November 2013, the number of commercial LTE networks worldwide totaled 222 in 2013, and the number of operators that had invested in LTE worldwide in 2013 was approaching 400. Operators are facing the difficulty of coexisting network standards and frequencies. To expand their existing networks or build new ones, an operator has to find extra room on an antenna site in order to install base stations or RRUs. Renting new sites for antennas is costly; therefore, operators seek to make full use of the limited site space they already have. Drawing on its rich experience with optical remote distributed base stations, ZTE has launched an ultra broadband RRU (UBR) that enables operators to use only one RRU instead of the traditional two (which operate on two frequency bands). This saves TCO. Ultra Broadband By using a new type of amplifier and an advanced digital pre-distortion (DPD) architecture and algorithm, UBR is capable of single-channel, ultra-broadband transmission. UBR also uses advanced ultra-broadband DPD architecture and algorithms to provide industry-leading transmission bandwidth of 365 MHz. A traditional RRU can only work on a single frequency band with the general bandwidth of 30–40 MHz. Therefore, six conventional RRUs are needed to cover the six major frequency bands

Meizu MX4 vs Motorola Moto X (2014)
Here we go, comparing the new Motorola Moto X with the Meizu MX4 and this is as USA versus China in the battle of the smartphones as one can get – the Moto X is built right here in the U.S. and the Meizu MX4 is built entirely in China. There was a time when a smartphone made in China meant a low-end spec device headed to the emerging nations – but not any longer. Yes, they still make those cheaper devices, but soon realized if they wanted to sell devices in Europe or the U.S. that they were going to have to up their game. I am happy to report that they have done exactly that – the MX4 is a well-made, nice looking, solid device with flagship specs.
Both devices are great to look at and have the feeling of quality – the new Moto X is larger in every direction, but still maintains the curved back and is a joy to hold, and if you get the optional leather or wooden back, it looks simply stunning. The MX4 is no slouch in the looks department either with its metal frame and buttons, but has a soft-to-the-touch material on the back that not only functions to make holding the phone more secure, but also adds to its looks.
These two devices share a few things in common – both have about the same size display and both are Full HD. They both have 2GB of RAM and neither device has room for expansion of its internal memory. The Moto X and MX4 are about the same in size and weight with the MX4 ever so slightly taller and wider. They both have the usual Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer.
Please take a look at the detailed specifications below and after you look at those we will take a closer look at each individual device to determine their strengths and weaknesses in order to help pick a winner to this comparison.

Key specifications of Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro
Lenovo launches Yoga Tablet 2 Pro with a 13-inch screen and a built-in pico projector. The company has not revealed the pricing and its global availability details yet.
The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro sports a 13.3-inches IPS touchscreen display touts UHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The DLP chip pumps out 40-50 lumens with a native WGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels), which Lenovo claims is good for a 50-inch projected image. While far from HD, the projected videos in our demo looked good with the lights off, and the tablet’s speakers were impressive, even though they predictably lacked the oomph of a proper set.
In terms of further specs, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is powered by 1.86GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3745 processor with 2GB of RAM. It houses a 8-megapixel f2.2 rear camera and also boasts a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie. The handset runs Android 4.4 KitKat. Huawei partners Blu Telecoms to deploy 2nd 4G LTE network
Blu Telecommunications, a wholly Ghanaian-owned and managed telecommunications company would soon launch Ghana’s second 4G LTE network on the back of infrastructure built by Huawei Technologies, the world’s leading telecommunications equipment manufacturer.
The partnership with Huawei Technologies offers Blu Telecommunications the ability to provide uninterrupted high-speed and reliable data, voice, WiFi and video on demand services to residential and business subscribers.
By the first quarter of 2014, Huawei had launched 126 commercial LTE networks and had signed more than 290 commercial LTE contracts globally.
Huawei LTE has a global business footprint on six continents and provides coverage to more than 100 capitals and nine top global financial centers.
On 3rd October 2013, Huawei launched the first ever 4G LTE TDD network in Ghana during the ITU Africa Regional Preparatory Meeting (RPM-AFR) for the WTDC-14 held in Accra.
Huawei’s strong LTE innovation places it at the forefront of the industry and the most trusted partner for BLU Telecom.
“Huawei will build low TCO & customer experience oriented LTE TDD with Blu for Ghanaians to enjoy an affordable 1Mbps above speed anytime, anywhere,” a statement from the company said.
The partnership also involves the provision of Huawei 4G modems, mobile Wi-Fi and CPE (LTE routers) providing high performance and improved mobile broadband user experience.
Meanwhile, Blu Telecom is ready to launch its services this month, after running a test of its network in selected communities in Accra through a scheme it called “Founders Campaign”, where they gave their first one hundred customers free devices and unlimited data to test and experience the network.
The company has said it would maintain the founders and continue to depend on them for testing and feedback on every new product it introduces after the launch of commercial service later this month.
Blu has said it would embark on a consumer advocacy campaign aimed at making affordability and optimum consumer satisfaction a norm in the data market.
Indeed, its planned affordability drive is not out of place, as the most recent GSMA Intelligence report clearly indicated that affordable smart devices and data packages are the key drivers of data consumption across the world, particularly in sub-Sahara Africa.
Ahead of the commercial launch, Blu would organize a Founders Experience to allow the 100 selected founders to share their experiences on the network with the public.

Lenovo's Yoga 3 Pro convertible laptop has an actual watchband hinge
Lenovo has announced a new convertible laptop called the Yoga 3 Pro.
The 13-in Yoga 3 Pro looks slim and is supposedly 17 per cent thinner than its predecessor, theYoga 2 Pro. The laptop comes with a QHD+ 3200x1800 display and features what Lenovo described as a watchband hinge design. The hinge is made from more than 800 pieces of steel and aluminium, allowing it to have six focus points rather than the traditional two.
"The YOGA 3 Pro offers users an excellent experience in any mode from the moment they open the lid," announced Lenovo, while explaining that the bright and clear screen looks "amazing" whether in laptop mode, stand mode, tent mode, tablet mode, etc. The display notably sportsdurable Gorilla Glass as well, so you'll be able to take the machine out and about with no worries.
Lenovo’s Harmony software allows the machine to adapts to users’ preferences when in different modes. When reading an ebook, for instance, Harmony will automatically change the brightness and color temperature according to the environment lighting. Harmony can also enable motion control or touch depending on the mode, and it can optimise many popular applications for each mode.
The Yoga 3 Pro is available in three colours (Clementine Orange, Platinum Silver, or Champagne Gold), while the watchband hinge resembles the flat, metallic look of premium watch bands. Hardware specs include an Intel Core M processor, solid state drive storage up to 512 GB SSD,Intel integrated graphics, up to 9 hours of battery life, support for 802.11 a/c Wi-Fi, and JBL speakers with Waves Audi.
You can get the Yoga 3 Pro at the end of October via Best Buy or Lenovo for a price that starts around €1,599. Check out the picture gallery below.
